1. I always lost size going heavy. When I stick to moderate weight and slowed tempo and doing full body workouts gains came fast. I think more weight on the bar is harder to control mind muscle connection that's with my experience anyway. Unless I'm powerlifting that's different.

  2. I did progressive overload with adding weights and it gave me all kind of injuries. Now i'm using lighter weights and progress in reps, way better for me!
