  1. MAYBE THE GREEDY REPUB RIGHT WINGERS THOUGHT THAT EVERY ONE WAS GOING TO PUT THEIR EXTRA MONEY IN A SOCK AND BURY IT IN THE BACK YARD!
DAMN ,WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SPENT IN US BUSINESSES!!

  2. This is why the 1950's saw such tremendous growth. Everyone had more money, which fed the economy. the real question is why does the Right, who can see this data, consistently not want this growth that they know will occur? Can it actually mean that the downside is a more democratic nation and thus a diametrically politically weakened ruling/upper investor class?

  3. In what universe? If every employer is mandated to increase minimum wage to $15/hr, that means they have less money to hire people. Many of these companies have also automated these positions. For example, go into a McDonalds and the ordering is automated. Same with Taco Bell. Real people make the food and bring it to you, but the jobs that don't require any skill are all being automated. Why? It's cheaper than hiring someone for $15/hr. The only way I could see this not affecting employment would be if the feds or state were giving these employers subsidies.

  4. Why can't the left understand that minimum wage jobs aren't meant to be something people can live off of outside of having government assistance, have we become so afraid of hardwork that we don't wanna try for a high paying job and just demand that low skill jobs deserve more than it is worth?

  5. Give it a couple years and even with the $15 an hour wage, stores are gonna increase prices and standard of living goes up, and people will be left behind, as great as getting paid $15 for a MINIMUM wage job is, why not go to a trade school or get a degree that is needed in the job market and gain skills to EARN a high paying job, I guess I'm just old school but I like my pay to equal my skillset and flipping burgers isn't a skill that deserves $15 an hour, I hate seeing people rely on the Government , take control of your own life and earn that high paying job

  6. I lived most of my life in the US and now I am living in Australia. I will say a higher minimum wage is a wonderful thing. Though with it comes increases in other areas. You will not keep the same gas prices, rent, home prices to purchase. Groceries and dining out will go up in price. We have a minimum adult wage of I believe around 20.00 per hour. Rent in a rural area is 250-300 per week. House prices 300k and above for outlying areas. Central 600k . Gas on a good day 1.35 a litre which is well over 3.00 a gallon. Often gas is 1.45-1.50 per litre. A 24 pack of coke just to equate to something most would know on sale 13.50 over 20.00 if not on sale. We don’t have tipping here so waitstaff make 20.00 per hour. If you were to order breakfast out 2 eggs hash browns toast over 10.00 not that I would Oder breakfast out. Just some examples. Yes, a bigger pay check is great. I agree the US needs to increase minimum wage. Long overdue. Just be prepared that it won’t necessarily increase your net hugely after bills. Prices will need to rise to meet this increases eventually. It won’t be over night but it will have an effect.

Another knock on effect is hiring of 2 part timers for one full time. Or casual verses full time with benefits of things like vacation time and the like. I truly believe the system needs changed in the US. Just be prepared with every change comes other changes.

  7. I know if I had more money I'd for sure go out and buy things, I'd go out to eat instead of cook at home every day, I'd go see a movie or hire companies to do work on my house. Instead I'm a plumber assistant and install drain fields and septic systems for $12 an hour, 40 hours a week. No benefits, no vacation or sick time. None of that.

  8. The GOP and their billionaire buddies know full well that a £15 minimum wage will grow the economy, just as they know that trickle-down economics never works. BUT they know all too well that Reaganomics and a low minimum wage will put money in their pockets, even at the cost of damaging the US economy!
It is all pure, unfettered and unchecked GREED!! And it's blindingly obvious to anyone NOT in the 1% or the MAGA cult!

  9. People having money means they spend more. More spending at business means business needs more people, hence more jobs. Why do they think tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs, but pay raises for the poor doesn't? Is it stupidity, or base greed?

  10. Hey bubble head…the economy is kicking butt everywhere. This can be argued as part of the tax cuts easily. That's why economics is a "SOFT" science. Also no one with credibility said destroy…it was said(and many will still retain) that it slows growth of jobs with other unexpected consequences that often befall these emotional responses to logical problems that infect the left.

I give this to the tax cuts because the country as a whole are seeing the same results without the minimum wage increase…the tax cuts offset your numb and dumb economic ideas. Nice try though…obfuscate away for all the good it will do ya.

  11. The rich and powerful feel safe only when people are destitute, starving, and totally demoralized. People who are healthy, independent, and confident can't be controlled easily.
The rich are desperate to prevent it from happening.

  12. So basically another republican attempted scare tactic, that blew up in their faces.

I feel like republicans have a secret thrill of being embarrassed / exposed for all the stupid shit they say.

  13. White House just relased a report and said that USA living standard is 15% better than Nordic Countries!
Sure if you are the 1% Yes you’re life is way better in the US.
    99% not so much better!

  14. Yea economics 101 put actual money in the hands of the consumer so they can spend it , I guess republicans didn't get that memo , this has also made people richer as a by product of a robust economy … go figure

  15. YOU MEAN TRICKLE DOWN BULLSHIT ECONOMICS DIDN'T WORK AND HIGHER WAGES DID!!!??? WOW. GOOD FOR SEATTLE!!! TRICKLE DOWN BULLSHIT ECONOMICS IS NOTHING BUT VOODOO ECONOMICS😱😱😱😍😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

  16. If you go back to the 80's research you will find today living wage should be be $17-21 hourly. It is due to the rich cheating, stealing, coning and tax breaks that have kept it as it is. Not funny is in our state Taco hell always hiring managers but at $12-13 hourly. It is simple more one makes the more they will spend houses, cars paying off debt. For being the richest Country in the world we sure have the lowest wages in the 10 top countries in the world.
